Chipmunk sunning

on the wall

cat sleeping

driveway suddenly

yellow

leaves

my neighbor’s leaves

blowing

where I raked

dog hiding

someplace

a cold morning

autumn now

red dogweed

leaves

Holly

Chilled -

morning arrives late

early evening welcomes warmth

Grass shafts sway

heavy blossoms dry

next summer’s rhythm planted

Moonshine and Jupiter

peek over the brick wall

shadowed

Fall colors

The poetry

of noticing

Wet paws

on the kitchen floor

October coffee

Morning blanket

warm wite sighs

newly wed

The beginning of fall

The bus groans on

The landscape changes.

In the autumn air

How many acorns?

The squirrels know.

Shadows echo the halls

the hunters whisper

seeking the formerly living.

Scent of charred wood

as a bluebird sqwawks

moon rises over gravestones.

House cold - furnace out

yet outside warm and sunny

better to be outside

Standing by park

waiting on bus

smell only speeding cars

Fall_

Constant sound of acorns dropping

Dick

reddening maples dance in the breeze—
the oaks gossip among themselves

cool fall days—
the last of the blackberries
big as thumbs

summer born fauns
have lost their spots—
coyotes howl all night

Orion rises in the east—
I am awake past midnight

each step an adventure—
under the fallen leaves
walnuts in their husks

The owls discuss
A busy day
While I sit peacefully

#2
Warm spice in my hands
Cold chill in my spine
Leaves fall

#3
The roar of the crowd
Crashes onto my head
Jubilation

Sometimes my knees sound
Like autumn’s dry leaves
Time makes everything crispy

Strawberry Moon

makes life look

as good as it tastes

Coming home

meeting old ghosts

in new forms

She in me I see

her eyes are my own

a legacy to uphold

Patti

Falling leaves

color of the

river’s bridge

autumn-

the sky the color

of the buildings

autumn-

the sky the color

of the river
