February Renga

Dena the airplane over snowy peaks delivering swimsuits

green shoots through melted snow future lilies

Rosalie Snow fading squirrels out still no groundhogs

winters end nears no more majestic snow to dream by

I think that I shall never see such beauty as snow falling

Elena Ice melting on the tree the bough bends but doesn’t break

The sun shines as cars slide on the highway

No hat No gloves No snow. Yippie!

Betsy Sun needles its way through tress tinting them a faint golden glow

Fog shrouds the path ahead hiding the danger groundhog day

an oblivious rodent twitches his nose ecstatic cameras explode groundhog day

A bucket of brown and white a creek bed sleeps

Snow drops bow their heads winter recedes

Crocus dot the tapestry winter’s faded quilt

Buck watery puppy prints melting snow

green sticks in the snow daffodils

black spots empty deer in the snow

Patti daffodils sprout — believe the end of winter

winter ends — eagles build their nests in snow

Kara the look in her eyes the same as her father’s and his mother’s

ushered by dusk a wave of starlings eleven stories high
